i've found a pair of old allis grain drills originally built by lacrosse. They got allis chalmers embossed on the lids and the a/c diamonds on the ends. I know of only one more of these around like this and know they are kinda rare. You could make one nice one out of the pair as one has been picked apart some. (probably parts for the other).
what do you guys think something like this is worth, We pull a couple of Vanbrunts now and have never given more than 50 bucks for one. The guy started out a $2000 and i told him he was crazy. I offered him $300 being they ARE allis drills and i'd like to see one behind the UC or U. should i offer more? |

If the good one was looking that good and in field ready condition and you get a parts drill, I would spend up to $1000 for the pair. However it sounds like you're going to NEED the parts drill and a lot of elbow grease and some cash to get one field ready so I'd stop at $500 tops not seeing the drills. I guess it depends how much you want it and what it will take to get useable. Good luck

I'd love to have it, but mainly because I live in La Crosse and because my Grandpa and an Uncle worked for Allis here in La Crosse. Grampa retired from Allis.

The one RfDeere posted about above is the one I sold last summer. The new owner is actually picking it up on Wednesday evening on his way to the GOTO in Montevideo MN. We paid $500 for the one we are keeping in our collection, but it is in excellent shape. I wouldn't pay more than that for the pair if it will take both to make one good one. Good luck with the purchase.

I'd love to find a 6 footer. I have a 10 footer, but it is more like a WC size, not a B size.
