rear. I went to our show grounds today for the summer consignment auction. One of the last things to sell was a C with a Woods mower. I didn't raise my hand at all and the last bid was $240. It had been repainted and was faded pink. It had one new rear and one new front tire and the other 2 were ok. It had straight tin and was complete. It also the hydraulic lift on the mower deck and need a little work and new belt. The worst was it was stuck. While I was looking at it, this guy say put it in gear and see if it turns over. He stuck it in 1st and tried to rock it. I think he might have been the one that took it home
Oh well, I didn't need another project anyway. There was also a 53 SC plow with a set of tie barred lift latches that sold for $100. I bought a FMJ mag that has a broken impulse spring for $11. |

Ive done the same thing many a time. Watched a C sell about the condition you described for about that money and my hands were glued to my side. Watched a 210 sell for $3,500 that run soooo smooth and again my hands were stuck. Watched a beautiful Gleaner G with a 301 gas in it sell real cheap with heads and a perfect like new John Deere 42 combine sell a couple years ago for $700 with bean head. It was nice nice nice and a scrap man bought it and loaded it up. Had a chance to buy a 720 diesel Deere about 10 years ago for $1,500 from someone I knew. It was all painted up and ran nice but the pony wouldn't start. My rear is gettin sore from all the self kicking.

Rocking it in first is least likely to move the engine even if its free. Rocking is far more effecting in the top gear.

I am haunted be a Gleaner S that I let get away for $450. Field ready, and I let it go. I was saving the space on the trailer for a 1937 UC that was down the sale line. Then it went for $4000. I came home with an empty trailer and my tail between my legs. I feel you pain.

Charlie - you know how this works - $240 was your starting bid - you would have run it to $500 and then kick yourself for paying too much. Oh well, either way, I will save a kick for you.

Well, I don't think I'll kick yah, lol, sometimes a man has to say NO! At one time I kept buying more projects than I could fix up and it got a little out of hand. But man o man was that cheap for that tractor, heck the rear wheels and tires were worth that, lol.

opposite experience today at my first auction. nothing big, no orange available but i got a usable set of front and rear wheels for a garden tractor, 2 large rotary cultivator blades, an 8 disk 3 point rig, a roller on a stand (for cutting long boards) and, oh yeah... and an almost new 10-24(11.2 -24) tire... all for exactly $100. the tire went for $25 and i was not the only bidder! a smooooth running farmall low boy went for $1200 but i'm holding out for something orange, preferably a B,
now to get the tractors running that can use this stuff... if you're feeling down, charlie... just take Lena out for a spin and watch your grin grow.

I told him to put it in 3rd and thought he did. I think he was the one that bought it and didn't want it to turn over or he would have had to pay more for it.

It might be that I need to be kicked twice. For some reason or another ,last week I bought a Case 630 diesel with a flat tire, and a Farmall H.

Charlie - consider yourself kicked ---- Rich, not sure you need kicked -- those are pretty cool tractors. What are all those hydraulic hoses on the "H"?
