So I can play the what is it worth idea.
did a mowing job for guy down the road and noticed he had a Farmall 300 with a wide front and a loader on it setting out in weeds behind shed .
Asked him about it and says it's been setting for 3 years as it will not start, little more info and said it will not turn over with starter. (mentioned to him engine is stuck) . He said it might be as has not been in shed for year or more before problem.
Tractor has draw-bar, not fast hitch, light duty loader , has hyd fittings on rear (2 lines) did not see what valve body or pump is on hyd system.
Wondering what the value might be on this unit, tires hold air but worn, sheet metal good , .
His expectations are way over value i see but my knowledge on the value might be under market also.

I would say between $750 and $1000 Are the rims ok? Did TA work -- remember TA stands for trouble ahead and could very likly be out. All that said a 300 is still a nice size outfit. And wide front is a big plus!!

His first thing when asked was he would like to get $2200 for it , before we got to where he said the engine was stuck.
Didn't notice if PS or not.
Has TA and looks like planetary PTO , set of chains on it . Did not notice the loader make but looks like after market not IH .
I had a IH 300 Utility for about 3 years and ended up putting shafts in PS on that tractor then traded it for my IH 460 Utility I have now.
He has a rotary mower for it with the wheels on the side and a hyd ram to raise the unit as a separate deal but we never got to price on that.
Unsure if i need another tractor or if it is worth haggling with him on it as my last 300 was almost enough problems to last a lifetime with the steering box problems..

I spent a lot of hours on such a tractor doing everything from pulling a 3-14 plow to mowing hay.  Probably spent the most hours pushing a 4 row cultivator.  It was a good tractor in it's day.  PS, live hydraulics, and independent PTO were all standard.  The TA was a problem in early tractors and was campaigned by IH.  We never had any problems with ours, and Dad kept it 20 years until he retired.

It's not worth $2200 with a possibly stuck engine (and without a fast hitch), however.

Definately not worth $2200, closer to $1000 on a good day!
