The fiber drive gear died  at altenator on dads 190. He called around to find the gear only ( have replaced several over the past 24 years ) and could only purchase entire altenator drive assembly for  $93.00. The cost didn't surprise dad but the fact that the new gears were metal did (pleasantly). He also said that the dealership ,old ALLIS dealer that can still get parts, said that their supplier is trying to push these tachs to digital.Has anyone else heard of this and how could it be done on a '69 diesel ? Thanks

Better check the number of teeth on the gears, fiber gear NLA out of AGCO, Some people are selling Massey units which have the wrong gear set in them, and your tachometer will be off around 25%. I have the fiber gears made and have the small gear  from AGCO.  Fiber gear and nylon end on tach gable help protect tach from stray current from alternator reaching the tach.
