Allis Chalmers 6080. When I shut the tractor off, I loose the prime on the hydraulic pump, no steering or other hydraulics when I restart. I re prime and everything works. What could be causing the loss? The rear end acts as the tank for the fluid. Please let me know if any of you have had the same problem. Thanks  Pete

Check the suction line for leaks.  It can lose its prime without visable leaks, as the leak can be small enough that air will go in but fluid won't go out.  Not completely familiar with the 6080s suction line routing, but if it has any large hose connections or connections with doughnut gaskets, that would be my first place to look.

Mack, do you mean the gasket where the pump mounts to the tractor? Or internally? Thanks
