This is the PS unit that runs off the back of the generator. Replaced the pump itself recently, but ran it with no issues for some time. For no obvious reason, the unit started foaming fluid out the power steering sump vent. Assumed it was sucking air somewhere on the suction side of the pump, checked and/or replaced the suction lines feeding the pump. It continued to foam. Removed the pump and, powering it with a drill, pumped fluid out of and back into a bucket (using the same suction lines). Noted no foaming doing this, eliminating (I suppose) the pump itself as the source of the air.
Wouldn't a leak on the pressure side express itself as a fluid leak, as opposed to pulling air into the circuit? I wonder if anyone else has had this same problem and/or has any tips?
thanks!

Do you have the tall vent on it?? Possibly the fitting going into the sump on the suction side is cracked, how much oil is in it, just over the gear is plenty. Id drain the sump and change the oil if you havent already cause it can get old. Your correct leak on the pressure side would be external, a leak on the suction side will make foam. HTH

Thanks for the help, guys.
Skip, yes, it does have the tall vent. The oil is fresh. Checked the fitting going into the sump repeatedly.
Michael, yes, I'm sure it's correct. Plus, it ran fine with this same oil for some time, and it's the same oil I run in my other, identical D17 power steering without issue.
This has to be something simple I'm overlooking.
