Central air runs at my house from the first day it hits 70 degrees in the house in spring right thru until fall. Don't like the heat at all.

Hey Ken in Texas, we do have AC up here and it's been running steady. I think most of us from Minnysota are better at handling cold than we handle the heat!

I wish we could get some of that heat....been a cold summer here so far. My green beans are 3 weeks behind, zucchini slow, as is almost everything else except the peas, garlic and onions. Unusual amount of onions bolting due to temp variations....I have the cheap water (and AC) just need some heat!!!

Yes thankfully I do have AC in the house, but need to recharge my truck.
I've seen corn tasseling out at 4.5' to 5'. Not going to be the bumper 200+ bpa crop like last year. Seems like the weather is like you guys in IA and IL had last year with to much water. Just noticed that I reached the same # of posts as the cu inch of my favorite tractor, D17 series IV with 226. I love the sound of that engine purring as it worked. Why is there never time to do it right the first time, but always time to go back and fix it?

Felt like a sauna outside the last few days. The orange iron at the Orange Spectacular is going to be too hot to touch this weekend at this rate. Guess I've got a good excuse to go to the show, its too hot to work outside.... |

Heat index was supposed to get up to 117ºF yesterday in Rochester. I don't know what the heat index actually got to. I just have a couple window units and it isn't enough but better than nothing. I had to have my windshield wipers on yesterday morning all the way into work cause the air was so heavy with moisture.

the weather has not been the most user friendly thing. the sad part is that the dewpoint was 82, we were more humid then in the rainforest. The heat aint bad, its the humidity that gets to ya. But, we can complain all we want, but can you imagine how the corn and beans love this! They have grown like crazy. We run a heating and cooling business, let me tell you, its been a busy week. A lot of stuff has been breaking, and been on the verge of breaking. Got a few places with garden hoses running on the condensors to keep em cooling.

we too have air in the house but we turned it up to 77 in the house with fans running to keep from over working the air conditioner. its not bad in the house when you have the humidity out and some air circulating. like some of you others have said once the inside of our house hits over 72 we have the air on.

101 in Rockford, IL yesterday, supposed to be warmer today. Heat index was 115 yesterday. I love it hot, but this is getting to even me. No AC here. Wife really hurting, as she works in an air-conditioned bank all day. I'm suppose to haul snap coupler equipment for the AC Jamboree today, but may pass on that.

Today is the kind of day my Dad would have had me in the pasture cutting thistles with the spade, or digging post holes for a fencing job. Basic training at Ft. Polk, LA in August was a breeze. LOL

Holy smokes! It actually does get above 40 degree's in Minnysota? I guess I'm one of the fortuate that the heat doesn't bother me much. It was pretty hot at Dale's and farther North at my brother's in Downer's Grove, it was 104. I'll take the hot any day over the cold bitter winters we've been havin' around here the past few years. You can always get cool somewhere. I'd rather sweat my #$$ off than freeze it off! LOL!

Maybe we are lucky in that its stayed in the mid 90s here but still I can't take it. I prefer weather in the 40-60degree range. This is crap!

I just got my AC hooked back up last week. I had actually started getting used to it but the wife had not. seems I could get more done without it. Rain is what I need. Gardens starting to really show signs of stress.

Was 98 degrees at noon today. Had a few clouds and a sprinkle of rain that just came thru and it cooled down 10 degrees. We had clouds and a half inch of rain yesterday that cooled us down to 72 degrees in the afternoon. We were the cold spot in Minnesota yesterday and believe me it felt great after several days of mid 90's.
Have a 12K btu window ac unit we use for cooling. Our house is a 1200 square foot modular home that was built in 1970 so it has nothing in the way of high efficiency windows or insulation. Just turned the ac on a few minutes ago and it is a comfortable 75 degrees in here.

Local NWS station reported our heat index hit 120F today. Actual temp was about 102ish. It was actually MORE comfortable after about noon, 'cause the humidity went up about a thousand feet or so... unfortunately, it'll be back down at snorkel level really soon.
Like others reported, we've had no appreciable ran for about 3wks now. The corn is nice'n tall, tassels up, but the ears are really lame... ground is cracking open, and the grass is going dormant. I'm kinda thinkin' we won't need to run the dryer on the grain-bin this year... |
