Iv got a 13 foot allis disc with the gangs set straight do you think it will work good just to knock down stalks. We are notill planters, but go the go ahead for some tillage to hard to see the markers in them thick stalks.

Why not try your rotary hoe? That would do a good job knocking down the stalks and not mess with the dirt as much as a disc would. You could also run twice as fast with the hoe.

yeah thought bout that but i dont own one and already own the disk its our secondary disk and lighter than the 2500 we have

The only thing I see that will be an issue, is if you use a disk even at a very shallow angle you esentually have a marker mark ever 10" or so, your planter maker disks will be hidden amoung the other disk marks, unless you are going to drive at a decent angle to the rows.

After thinking about this for a while, why are you even using markers? I follow the old rows. You could also plant at an angle, BTDT, spraying is a major PITA. Final option is GPS, the BTO guys use auto steer. I'm thinking of putting the GPS from my sprayer in the planter tractor this year.

we use markers to see where we are in the feild. If you didnt use markers you would be over lapping to much or too little. Only the big time farmers can afford that gps

A flail chopper would work but then if you don't have one. I doubt a disc with the gangs straight would do much. These new hybrid corn stalks seem to be tougher all the time.
