Did close to one acre. Tough going. Rough field that hasn’t been touched for 30 years! Very dry here. Has not rained for a month or so here except for couple brief showers. And the plow is not in real good shape. Would not dig in. Got the manual out (lucky I had one) and made some adjustments. Made it a lot better - got down 4” to 6”. Low gear seemed to work best. Pulled great in 2nd but ground was too rough!

Ed, you're a little far away or I'd come up and help. Looks like you're getting it done.

Plow is 3-12’s.  Going to shine up the mouldboards a bit!

It will pull a lot easier once it scours. 12" bottoms are kind of unusual, I've never seen any in this part of the world.

They were common up here. Lots of rocks where I grew up.  I have a 2-14 snap coupler as well. Should try it as well. 😀

Was reading the post on brush hogging and noticed comments on removing pto shaft for plowing. I had not done that but will next time! I did go out and check clearance and had some about 2" of clearance there. I guess if you hit rock or stump could do damage then. Rechecked manual and it tells you to remove pto shaft! Lol. Smile

Around here, all the plows I remember from back in the 60's were 10"-12" or 12"-14".

Thanks for sharing pictures. I have also noticed that the width of bottoms varied in different parts of the country... Mostly 14s and 16s anywhere in the handful of places I have lived in the Midwest.

I don't feel like dropping the PTO shaft is too bad of a job as long as your cross bolt isn't all bent up, and if it is, it should probably be replaced!
