Does this linkage look correct? Based on online images, mine looks
totally different. Just wondering if some of the early models had a
different configuration. Something is definitely not right though.
Tractor runs good but the throttle has very little affect on rpm. It
will only slightly get above idle. I've gone through the linkage
adjustment procedure and it really didn't change anything. I know the
spring is wrong and it doesn't appear to be putting enough tension on
the crossover rod. ![]() |

You've got the early design which didn't work well at all. Find yourself a salvage D10-12-14-15 engine and rob those parts. Even later B-C-CA's would be better than what you've got.

and the correct spring has a LOT to do with it... That might be a hardware store spring that is not even close to being the right tension..... you might try pushing or pulling on the spring a little to see if you get a better reaction... some NEW parts would definitely help.

I had a 1939 "RC" decades ago, and it had that old linkage and spring on it. I fabricated a piece to weld underneath and onto the governor arm in chassis, instead of complete replacement. Then, the throttle speed and spring was easily swapped for the newer parts. I don't know how they ever got those engines thru Nebraska test as poor as they worked, especially at anything but wide open throttle.
