Book says 10w10. Found a quart of non detergent 10 weight oil at O’Reileys. Will this work? Thanks

Not saying that it won't work, but I would just use some regular hydraulic oil. Just don't use brake fluid.

We always used ATF/Dexron and kept a couple of 1 quart jogs on the shelf just for 6000 series brakes.

It's a mineral oil brake fluid. New Holland still sells it for around $20 a quart. NH part number is 73340450. LHM brake fluid is what it would be called in the automotive world. I think some European car manufacturers used it for a while, like Citroen. It's designed to use a mineral oil because if any bypasses the seals in the axles, it will mix with the hydraulic oil in the rear end without issue. If you are losing a good amount of fluid, you may be due to replace the piston seals in the trumpets.

IM with the DR.. and OLDER type of trans fluid is 10w and would be good.. Not the NEW MERCON LV or Dextron 6.. ETC... Use the older stuff that is not synthetic and full of addatives, detergents.... Type A, F, Dextron 1-2, etc.
