Hi all, new here and just got my new to me 44-45 B
Runs great carb needs a rebuild took it for a small cruise today have a binding/crunching sound from right side wheel, jacked it up, spun wheel forward and back and it’s binding up and has a sound of metal hanging up
I removed the wheel, took the 4 bolts out of what I assume is the pinion shaft? The one the brake drum is on
Well the putter bearing just under the cap is pretty well beat up. Being that I don’t have a replacement currently I packed it with some grease and reassembled. Quieter.

My questions are what is the part number for the bearing. Is the race in that cap I removed?
What is the steps to replace that bearing

Thanks so much!
I look forward to this group

the above is AMAZON... you should buy the RACE too... Yes, the RACE is pounded into the 4 bolt cover... bearing is pressed onto the shaft.. You may need to HEAT or CUT to get the bearing off the shaft ... try a puller first..

There are SHIMS on the cover to adjust the end shake on the bearings ... hold the cover up to the case with bearings installed ( 2 bolts) and measure the GAP between the cover and housing.. You want MINIMAL clearance.. No "CRUSH"..

here is another option - e-bay...... you can also get at NAPA or local Auto Zone..
