 Topic: Very Big Load

This company moves these big loads on specialized equipment quite often here. Dacro has a main shop just 4 miles from my farm here and these loads go out and North to the big projects. I'm not sure what this one is for but it's the biggest so far to be moved. Some of this extremely heavy stuff can only be moved in winter when the roads and ground is frozen.

I'm curious how the pushing trucks work. I think he said 4 pushers? Seems like a low speed "chain race"

Odds are all four trucks are same make/model/hp/gears/etc. That actually makes it 'easy' for pushing.
ONE guy is in charge, calls out gear and RPM. Similar to Blue Angels.....

Push trucks are connected to the load and each other with a heavy push bar that connects to the hitches on the back of the load trailer and from the front hitch on the trucks to the rear hitches. A good friend/neighbor of mine was a driver with Mammoet for years until he retired about 4 or 5 years ago. He was usually on one of the push trucks. Many of those big loads went to Fort McMurray, and took 4 or 5 days to do the trip, plus the loading and unloading time.

The push bar is kinda what I mean. It would seem when the front pusher gets a little out of line while turning the rear would want to push the back of the front truck sideways

guys in the back to not steer ! saw that on 'Highway Thru Hell' TV program. 'AL' has helped push several OVERSIZED !!! loads up the Coquahalla highway several times. neat show for wrecks and recoveries....

Trailer has its own turning dollies which are usually controlled remotely by an overseer on foot &/or in chase vehicle.
Trucks mostly stay in their designated positions & steer only to remain in those positions.
