Would like to know where to get head gasket with copper ring around holes instead of steel. Had one for Allis WD I did some years ago. Put one with steel in and leaked antifreeze out side when putting antifreeze in radiator. Used copper gasket sealer on gasket. Head and block were both resurfaced. Steel does not crush like copper. Don't know why they went to steel.

I think a Fel-Pro head gasket has a compression fire ring to seal the compression and the rest of the gasket is composition. However, I always smear something around each water hole and all the way around the O.D. of the gasket on both sides to see to it I've never once had a water leak. Copper coat on those metal gaskets just seems a waste of time to me. By the way, they didn't "go to" the laminated metal gaskets in recent times. They've been that way from the 1930's or 40's. Try a NAPA store.

The gasket Abeleine Machine shows online is what I'm looking for. Talked to salesman. Said it was what they had. Sent set from Reliance. Same as all the others have.

i think you will find when ordering parts that they all have the same stuff from the same supplyer most of the guys that answer the phone dont know the differance unless you work with places that specialize in certain brands and then they are limited to what they can do

Dan, I had this gasket customed made a few years back after I found out Victor Reinz #3162 gasket was discontinued. Victor Reinz made them for Allis Chalmers. I attached a picture of what the new gasket looks like. Design was copied from an original Allis Chalmers metal gasket with copper water ports and asbestos fiber core. The vendor did not used asbestos in the new gasket. If you interested in purchasing one, I would need $98.00 for gasket plus shipping. I can get a shipping quote once I have your address.
I have used two of these gaskets without having any issues with coolant leaks.

Regards, Tom Styskal

Tom, have 2 new gaskets here. Talked to 2 tractor mechanics and the place that did the engine work. Gave me things to try. If this doesn't work out I will contact you. There was some issues with the tops of the bolt holes that could of affected it.
Thanks for your reply.
Dan
