The Guy that owns the shop that just rebuilt a starter for me has an Allis Chalmers HD5 that looks to be in good shape and wants to sell it.. I'm not sure what year it is but has a Supercharged 3 Cylinder Detroit Diesel. He was told engine is not stuck but has no idea of the internals. It has one new track on right side and engine and trans have no oil leaks.

Something is not adding up. Ether somebody upped the HP by by adding a cylinder (which has been done more than one or two times). Or it started with 3 and is a HD 7. Been a long time since I was around a HD7 but it is bigger than a HD5. Raining enough I will not go measure. But at 6 foot I can see across my HD5 hood, so about 6 foot to the radiator cap. A HD 7 is enough taller the top of hood is above eye level. Another tell would be transmission. The HD5 has a plate on the deck marking the gears. Ether a 5 speed with one reverse or a 4 speed with 2 reverses. I don't think a HD 7 has any marks but it has been many moons, so I could be wrong again.

I'd love to have an HD5 someday. They're usually either too far away or the undercarriage is shot.
