From what little I can see, I'd guess a 844, from the split valve cover and the writing style on the manifold...

10000 series engine like the Dr said. The 10000 series engine didn’t have a turbo; the 11000 series engine had a turbo and that was the major difference between the two.
They both have 2 cast aluminum valve covers. The smaller ID name plate is in pretty bad shape but you can read the series number on it (10000 ). On the longer name plate list all of the options that were on it when it left the Harvey engine plant. The group number would list every item that was required for its makeup and installation. An example would be the Fan Group. Looking up the group number in the master materials book you would fine a detailed list of every item by part number and quantity of the parts needed. An example would be the fan blade, such as it could be a sucker or a blower.

Out of interest - what is the injection pump on it?

Id have to get more pictures and let you know for sure about the pump. But engine was used to run a small saw mill.

Somewhat O/T - Following up on the pump question
Earlier 516 engines had PSB 6 pumps. If I've got this straight a PSB runs at crank revs and a Stanadyne at cam revs. How did they manage to get the speed reduction?

Just like the 426 and 301...a double gear idler in the middle.

Later 11000 engines ran both Roosamaster rotary pumps and Robert Bosch inline pumps.
And yes had an extra idler gear to run pump at half engine rpm

Next question -
The extra idler would mean that the pump turns the other way? Edited by Ian Beale - 24 Aug 2024 at 10:23pm |

Nope. Double idler gear is two gears side-by-side of different diameters. Rear gear mates with crankshaft gear. Front gear is 1/2 the diameter of the rear gear and mates with the injection pump if it is a RoosaMaster or in-line Robert Bosch. Rear gear mates with an American Bosch rotary pump.
