Pin in bracket behind seat has about an inch of side to side play. The top link eye sliding on the pin. Is that ok or should I center it up with shims? About all I ever pull is a disc harrow. Just curious. Thanks!

Trying to picture what your asking but if I understand correctly I’m assuming you have a aftermarket top link that isn’t wide enough to fill the gap? Our seriesII top link has a built in bushing/swivel that takes that entire space to prevent side to side play. Adding washers on both side would be what I would do or find a factory top link. Our Danhouser post hole drill doesn’t fill the gap and I just add washers to both sides as the top link isn’t used as it is built into the frame of the drill.

My thought is if AC didn’t want it flopping around side to side then no type of equipment or top link should. After market top links often do not have the added bushing that AC built. Putting extra pressure on either side wouldn’t be good and neither would it be flopping back and forth. Making sure your swivel is oiled and able to rotate is also important. Same goes for the correct pin size, if it’s too small for the holes it will wallow out the holes over time. Top link hole should be the same size as on the tractor. If it’s bigger you can also add a bushing to correct that. Point is, no slop anywhere is what your aiming for.
