I could not think of anything they might be called that a search would understand.
I have my share of the ordinary barbed kind here and there when they were all I had; but, I much prefer the smooth kind.
I have never had one even offer to leak; and, if I ever have reason to pull a hose off, the hose comes off undamaged and ready to clamp again.
As for taking hoses off, after I found out about JIC adapters and swivels, I only ever use them in places where a hose might ever need be removed for whatever reason.
But, on a run of hose where the hose needs make a turn and might tend to want to kink, I like to use a 90° barb of whatever else is warranted.
I have never found such; but, I wish they offered short lengths of bendable tubing with hose barbs on both ends just for such purposes.
