I've got my C and B sitting beside each other doing a transplant of one good cylinder from the B to the C. I noticed that some of the rods are installed with the piston pin bolts facing right, some facing left. Both engines are like that and both have been apart with the rods numbered. Perhaps it doesn't matter but shouldn't they all be facing the same side?
Hey Miles, what's the latest on your C compression problem? |

No, they have to be reversed because of the offset for the bearing journals.
On some engines, like the 201 & 226, they all face the same way. The bolt on the same side as the cam. Bob

That is correct for the B and C engines, as the others mentioned. Here is a picture of how they go, you can see the short flange on each rod will be closest to a main bearing.

John Cylinder 2 and 3 look like they haven't fired for years and the Valves were rusted ojn the cylinder side. I have cleaned them up and resurfaced them. Starting to put them back together today. Need to have the Head ready to go back on when I leave on Thursday... What size oil filter do I need to buy for the 125? The oil pump was basically pumping oily sand into the Head... lol... I must say I haven't taken care of this one as I should... |
