that are STILL young at heart,,,,WinkWink,,,,,,,,
I had to go to the Alien Town this morning to get some pipe fittings to install the new pressure controller /safety shutdown switch on the air compressor,,and there was an older GMC Duelly just ahead of me that pulled into a service station and the truck had the sweetest sounding exhaust that sure reminded me of the old high school days of  cruising around in a SBC powered machine with those GREAT sounding Fiberglass packs,,,sigh,,,just like music to your ears,,,!!!
That is just what that Duelly sounded like,,,,!!  Shades of Yester years!!!!,,,,I WANT SOME for my one ton,,,,ClapClap
The Trk owner told me he had to special order those as the ones you buy at the Autozones and Oreillys just do not have that deep throaty sound,,,but we never got around to WHERE he ordered them,,,,Angry,
  Anyone have an idee,,,??

If you have some time on your hands and some 6" well casing......
cut two disks with 2" holes..weld onto the ends, say 12 and 6 oclock
insert 2" 'inlet pipe' until 2" from 'outlet end', tack weld
insert 2" outlet pipe' until 2" from 'inlet end', tack weld
do a temporary install and test for sound......
it should be bassey as maximum distance for exhaust to travel
You can adjust the sound by making the inlet and outlet pipes shorter should give higher tones. Think how a trombone makes notes.....
now if the duals are different lengths, you can get a real nice sound...

Guys go up the river, three abreast in their 'offshore racers', running twin big-blocks and open exhaust.

I come up behind... find a spot to get around them, cross their wakes, trim up my drive, and push the throttle about halfway down, and zip past... then I pour on the coals, and before they can respond, I'm around the next two bends, out of sight.

They finally see me parked on a dock somewhere, and come over to ask what I've got, and I answer "All that noise, and that's all the faster you can go?"

I like to see the embarassement in their eyes when they realize they got dusted-off by a 250ci inline six Chevy.  All they hear when I go by, is a very nasty propeller chomping through the water and tossing it their way...

The engine's sound is buried beneath the waterline.  By the time they hear me, I'm already long gone... stealth fast quiet...

Ten Amendments, Ten Commandments, and one Golden Rule solve most every problem. Citrus hand-cleaner with Pumice does the rest.

TURBOCHARGE it!!!
many turbocharged engines can produce more power on less fuel than big monsters of the past. Also when enlarging many of the older design engines, reliability and endurance suffer. Case in point adding cubic inches to a 226. after a certain point it becomes; How long or short is the fuse before it explodes. Also the 5.9 Cummins can make impressive numbers coupled with longevity and efficiency, that make many other big inch engines look like the dinosaurs that they. are

If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits.
If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

That’s a topical application that should be applied after increased displacement

Takes me back 50ish years ago , Joe . A much younger me was abiding the speed limit on the interstate in my '67 396 Chevelle . Met a SC hiway patrol going the opposite way . Joker did a u-turn in the median and ticketed me for excessive noise ! I was running header mufflers with no tailpipe . Prolly was kinda loud . Thanks !

Ah yes the noise level - Glass Packs on my 65 Olds 442 - sounds good to me but anyone setting in back seat - they complain once their hearing comes back some .
My 65 Norton motorcycle (N15-CS scrambler) came with no mufflers , pipes necked down from 1 1/2" to 1 3/8" at head as part of tuning . Only 750cc displacement but 65 HP , ran it for 3 years , only one warning (Rapid City SD local cop) stopped and asked if i was going to Sturgis , said be careful as Highway Patrol was cracking down on noise .
Later after work one day I took off from station , got to corner and couple cars making turns had traffic tied up making turns on main road so I snuck by on right side of stopped car and made right turn , cranked on through 1st and 2nd and made a turn onto road to house . Well in that group of cars tied up was a local cop who decided he was going to ticket me - so turning on siren and lights everything came to a complete stop and mess .
Cop came back to station about 10 minutes later and asked if anyone knew who owned that bike as he had chased it for a mile or so trying to catch up but never did . So my fellow workers said they had no idea , first time they ever saw it . (had to ditch my Orange helmet for a few weeks - to obvious)
Year later a MN Highway patrol didn't like the sound of straight pipes , stopped me and wife - just handed me MN Statue on mufflers , said get it fixed , gave me a repair ticket and said get the young lady home safe .
Had local cop shop sign off after I put shorty mufflers on bike - He said I will sign it but just don't ride it anywhere where i can hear it -or I'll have to give you a ticket .
Life lesson: If you’re being chased by a lion, you’re on a horse, to the left of you is a giraffe and on the right is a unicorn, what do you do? You stop drinking and get off the carousel.

Can Laugh, but there are Lawsuits to FORCE EV makers to Add "Car" NOISES to the machines so Deaf People can Hear them Coming or passing by.  I was thinking make them play Music like the old Ice Cream Trucks, NON STOP!!
