Haying season is long over in Canada. Good time to buy a haymower! Found this 82T and was able to get it for a pretty good price. Needs new knives and guards, belt ant tires but the rest of it is good. Also got some spare parts with it, including another twin drive gear box. It runs pretty smooth and also has the hitch and PTO for running a crimper. My neighbor has a small 3 acre hay field but nothing to cut it with. This might fit the bill nicely. |

I've been looking for one of those for a long time, but every one I find they want $$$$$ for. Looks like you did real good!

It's a 7 footer. Only 6 and 7' cut were offered. Not 9.

I like it, looks like it will make you a good machine. Do you plan to get a crimper to go with it?

Is that the one that's been advertised here in Ontario on Facebook/Kijiji? I've been eyeing it for a week or so debating on whether I should make an offer, but I wasn't sure if I needed an eighth sickle mower kicking around. Ah well, glad it found a good home. I think you're actually right near me, just outside of Port Hope? So it made its way pretty close to me anyway.
Keep an eye on that twin rotor wobble system. As you probably know, they were extremely well balanced and smooth when they were running, but they tended to be a little flimsier than some of the other manufacturer's knife drives. If you want a New Idea crimper to pull behind it, I think I still have one in the back of one of my sheds I used behind one of ours. We still use sickle mowers to cut all our hay at our Northern farm, but it's mostly grass, so the crimper doesn't get used.

Couldn't tell you. That guy had all kinds of interesting creations around his place. Was not a real farm.

Yep, that's the one. He wanted it to go to an AC enthusiast - that I am! Not really looking for a crimper for it. Don't have a need for it. The drive on this one is smooth and tight - no problems that I could see, but I also got a spare drive as part of the deal, so I should be good. I am just outside Port Hope. Where are you located?

Our main farm's up near Haliburton, but we have another farm just around the corner from you folks on Zion Rd (we rent out most of that farm). It's Myron, right? I'm the guy who was running the old sawmill at the Hope heritage equipment show back in August. I had a good talk with your father and (I think?) your brother - though admittedly I met so many people that weekend I may be confused.
