Looked through service manual (AC) 3 times for "best practices" on install of the manifold. Can't find a word about it. Getting it ready to mount and laid straight edge across intake side to thermostat hsg water port and off way too much in my opinoin. When finished they both are attatched to the same plane on the head. It turns into a job getting bolts out and T-stat hsg separated ,gasket scraped clean etc. Last one 14yrs ago I don't remember but I think I put the cooler in place then attatched the T-stat hsg. Kinda sucky because you have to tighten against head and draw up to manifold at same time. "Proceedure" is what I was looking for but can not find. Opinions?
Maybe your supposed to lay on a flat surface and assemble first? Edited by SteveM C/IL - 22 Oct 2023 at 11:21pm |

However you choose to do it. The assembly has to be flat or bad things can happen. The manifold gasket needs to be glued solidly on one side for sure to help keep it from blowing out, usually above the starter area. I usually RTV the other side to seal. Re-check manifold bolt torque cold after a few hrs of run time.
