Trying to find a replacement hose, 059266 from original parts manual, the 11" hose the connects first stage fuel filter to tank. HD5G Detroit 271.  Temporarily trying hoping to get by with rtv silicone wrapped in tape.

Those are inverted flare fittings. I would change them both at the filter housing, and the fuel tank bung to NPT fittings barbed hose fittings and replace the hose with standard fuel line. This hose in hydraulic terms is SAE100R7 hose. Or, at the auto parts store, fuel line hose fitting the barb size you select, (usually 3/8").

Start fresh with new fittings to replace the old hose . I replaced all hoses including the one to the bypass filter for engine oil - just had to make a restrictor to control the flow , and on the line to fuel gauge pressuer install a snubber to limit pulsation of gauge .

The original return line is still in place.  I swapped out the line from tank to filter.  Too windy and cold to try it yet.  Tomorrow should be much better.  Would this one work?

You will find out fast if fuel pressure gauge bounces the needle - I used one that had a replaceable orfise rod that controlled the pulsation .
