 Topic: Gleaner M2 rocker switches

The battle continues with the M2. We broke a switch and I need to replace it. I am hoping that someone is near enough to one of these machines that they could measure the rectangular hole opening and the mounting hole spacing for the switch. I won't be near the machine I am working on for a few days. It's the unload auger switch, but I believe all of the switches are the same size. I imagine it's also the same for most of the letter series combines as well.

What do you think you're going to do by measuring a switch ?? Go to an AGCO/Gleaner dealer and get one.

No measurement of the switch, but a common size in the truck world. I had seen many variations of the switch on the shelf in truck repair shops parts department. So when I needed a new switch for the header lift on my MH2 I took the old one and found a match. The only difference was the AC switch had plug in blades on the wire. The replacement had a screw to attach. Worked as long as I used the combine. I never priced it as the local dealer was long gone and was using a dealer 120 miles away was not the easiest. But want to say the local switch was less than $10 15 years ago.

Ray,
That's a great idea! I hadn't thought of that. These switches are made for commercial/ industrial off-road/on-road. Really any 10 amp rocker or toggle switch with the right contacts and operation will work if you can figure out a way to mount it in the hole.

Sorry Aaron, YOUR comment is unnecessary. You wanted a part that would fit and work for your application and the Dr. gave you an answer that would solve your problem. Have you actually called AGCO to find out the price of the switch in question (instead of just assuming it's going to be crazy expensive)? Yes, some AGCO parts can be expensive, but many others are reasonably priced.
Don't blame someone else just because you want a cheap way out.

You are wrong. Dead wrong. I asked for a little help/information and I get gruff. No one is being compelled to reply. Yet, you jumped into something on your own choosing. It's a shame. In addition, you are the one making assumptions. I do know what it costs, because I checked that first. As an example, I got the brush holder (slip ring) for the seperator/header clutches direct from the manufacturer for $140 delivered to my door. That's 40% less than Agco wanted for the exact same part. Maybe you have money coming out of your ears to throw around. I do not. It's not even my machine. I am helping a soon to be 83 year old man out. Does that make you feel good about barking at me? I'll buy from Agco when I can in hopes that they will keep making the parts we need.
If you have nothing positive to offer stay off the keyboard. This is a great site full of nice people. Please don't turn it into a place nobody wants to frequent. This is the last comment I am making about this. if you want to stay and argue in an empty room you're welcome to do so, you will be ignored.

I don't know about the Gleaner switches. But some of the IH axial flow switches were captive market switches made for IH. Unique spade locations. Found that out on my 1660. A guy has to weight out what his time is worth in searching vs just getting it done with.

What we need to do is call each other tomorrow. I have a complete dash from an N7 with the switches still in it. Is the switch flush or is it recessed?

Are you just needing the auger on/off? They had an auto/manual and I remember you had to put that to manual when you put it in the shed. Some how when starting the engine, electricity would back feed in the hydraulic stack and the auger would start going out.

Yeah, I hear you. You're not wrong. What's a guy's time worth? In my case, I have more time available, I'm not charging any labor, and I am trying to keep from hitting this guy too hard on parts for a machine that almost should be driven to the scrapper. It's what he's got. Run what you brung.
To your point, CNH wants $50 less than what Agco wanted for the identical hydraulic valve coil. I ended up somehow getting lucky and bought one brand new off Ebay for $16 (yes, sixteen) delivered to my door. The seller didn't know what it was for. Three more came from my local scrapper for a quarter of new.

Yes, it's unload auger on/off. Agco 71183605. I can't tell you if it's recessed or not (I'm not near the machine). I'm not terribly picky either way. It's got to be a double pole double throw switch that's momentary in both directions. (on)-off-(on). The same switch is used for auger swing in/out, reel height raise/lower, and reel speed fast/slow. The plastic molded case of the switch broke. No saving it, I need to find a suitable replacement.

They have 2 10/32 screws except the one in hydro handle. MACK
