I have an old friend who is looking at what he says is an A-C 840 wheel loader. It is powered by a 4-cylinder Perkins diesel engine (236 cubes I assume). He would like to know the rated lifting height and lifting weight of this machine. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Lift capacity - 9,000 pnds. 
Perkins 4-248 Diesel Engine
74 net H.P. 
1.25, 1.50 and 1.750 loader buckets
Torque Converter coupled to a 3 speed Fwd. Reverse Transmission
Planetary Rear Finals

Continued product development by AC produced the 840B  - Perkins engine evicted and AC 2900 turbocharged Diesel put in. 

Produced in Deerfield Illinois and marketed by AC Industrial Tractor Division.  AC 840 and AC 840B dropped from production in 1976 after Fiat Allis came to be. 

Replacement Wheel Loader was the Fiat Allis 345 and Fiat345B soldiered on in production until 1983.  Specifications similar to AC 840 and AC 840B wheel loaders. 

Lift Height - ?

My friend is concerned about the lifting height to be able to lift a bucket of lime into a TerraGator spinner box. I think it might be just a tad low.

According to this site, the height @ 45 degree bucket tilt was 111 inches...

Thank you very much. That should answer all his questions I think. The "B" series got the 2800/301 non-turbo engine at about 85 flywheel HP versus the 248 Perkins.

yes  Perkins... then 2800 ..... then 2900 in the 940.
