I've got an Allis Chalmers 720 garden tractor with a loader on it, it will not start. Checking it over I found that the Ignition Switch is shot. I just came from the local A.C. dealer and found that that switch is not available and is no longer made, the Part Number is 2171491SM, if I remember right that is a Simplicity number. Anybody on here have that switch? It has 5 blades that a 5 wire plug plugs into it, 1 blade is power, another is start, and another is run, the other 2 go to Battery & Accessories.
Anyone happen to have a switch like that? Thanks, Dusty

It is pretty much a regular Indak key switch. I got mine from Sandy Lake a few years ago.

. I gave up on the typical switches like that. I found a better sealed boat switch to put on my Ferguson. Do an Amazon search for boat switch and you should find something that matches. .

I have never had one go bad in 35 years, replaced one when I restored my 720 10 years ago just because I upgraded the entire electrical wiring. It was involved in a fire on the deck that caught grass clippings on fire that melted the wiring harness. Thankfully the fire was put out quickly and the wiring and belts were the only damage. Maybe I have just been lucky.

I can not find that Switch #2171491 SM. I've been searching the Internet, and find after market ones and go and try to order one, then it comes up, no longer available. Why/what was it so special?
Any chance any of you guys have a good one, new or used. Simplicity #2171491SM

I should add that this is for a D-10 series III.
I'm wondering why there are so many different Ignition Switches for the D-10 tractors.

It was not the key starter switch, but the starter motor relay. Put a new relay on, and turned the key, engine turned over and started.
