Watched the D17 Diesel app. 1958 model D17 Diesel sell for 5800 if I heard correctly, and the D17 gas was something like 3600. ![]() |

That is a NICE D17, but $11,000................WOW! But considering what tractors are selling for these days that is not a bad price.

I don't know what is so special about this one.Yes it's a series IV DIESEL and has one heck of a slick paint job but WOW am I missing something here??Seems like a high price to me.I guess maybe if the internals have had the same attention to detail as the paint, engine properly overhauled (properly overhauled budda not cheap)etc.I don't know, be interesting to see what it settles at. As you stated Steve probably gettiing close to break even point now.It sure is one purdy tractor and would make my barn look a whole lot purdier with it sitting in it.

Did anyone check, is it a Sackett restoration? Might explain the price?
Actually the seller might need a little more to break even. Edited by Kansas99 - 06 Apr 2022 at 4:46pm |

I bought a tractor once on Auction Time. Was easy. In the matter of NVH (noise vibration harshness), how does the D17's 6 cylinder diesel compare to the 170's 4 cylinder Perkins?

The gavel dropped at $22,650.00...WOW...Crazy Money... Any body know if there was a back story on this thing.I was thinking maybe part of an estate settlement, two in the family that couldn't agree on things so got put up for action.Just a theory.

“… how does the D17's 6 cylinder diesel compare to the 170's 4 cylinder Perkins?”
6-cylinder in-line engines are naturally well balanced by design. The 4-cylinder Perkins I think had an internal balancer, so it should be pretty smooth also. |
