Has anyone tried having this done rather than chrome plating? The chrome pieces on the B110 I am restoring are covered in surface rust, so I have been leaning towards spray chrome as a more affordable alternative. However I have heard that it can flake off pretty easily and does not have the same mirror finish as chrome plating. What are your experiences? Many thanks!

Polish and wax would be better than fake chrome. You know the only real answer i$ to get it rechromed

X2. I think spray chrome is just extra bright silver paint. Having said that, I cleaned up the chrome stadium light bar on the 7045. The corrosion was worse on the top side so after cleaning, polish and wax, I sprayed the top side with the "chrome" feathering to the real chrome. Looks good from the ground |

If it isn't too terribly rusted, you can polish it up with light oil and 1500 grit sandpaper. I did that on my B110 and it turned out very nice.

I've seen many things done with a "chrome" powdercoat. Like all powdercoat, it looks good to begin with and over time if it gets chipped or has a defect anywhere it will flake off. With most anything there is no substitute for doing a job right.

If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits. If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY |

Have you checked local motorcycle places for chroming ? Real stuff is 'triple plated' , copper-nickel-chrome.... $$$ Prep is 99.44% of the job. Rest is 'easy'....

It would take a ton of work to get any shine out of this grille. The
support for the arm rests is worse. Thinking about it over the day,
re-chroming would be the way to go. Could also get the D21 grille
polished at the same time! |
