A few years ago I picked up a B110 for nothing (yes, it's true), but I have never heard it run. The engine is not stuck, so it should run. Shortly after I got it, I took the carb off to get it rebuilt, and took off a few other small things in that area on the engine. Since then, I have not touched it. Fast forward to today and I am finally ready to get back at it and get this thing running. I have got these pieces here, but I can't remember where they go. I know one clip is for the throttle cable, but that long rod is a big question mark for me - same for the piece with the small bolt in it. Also, if anyone has contacts for getting new restoration parts, I would love to hear from you. So far, I am looking for the steering wheel center cap, the lift lever hand grip and the front PTO cover to name a few. Many thanks! |

my guesses... The long ,bent wire rod connects carb to govenor, either the throttle or the choke The tin bracket, hmm, it should bolt onto some other 'tin' ? If you can post the B&S engine info from tag, 'IPL Illustraed Parts List', , I'l try to find it.B&S is great about that info ! Jay

The long rod goes from the Governor to the Carb throttle plate. The Angle Bracket goes on the top of the intake pipe the bolt that is on top of cast piece. and the cable clamp bolt to that as the throttle cable goes though it.

Here is another question: There are 2 wires going to the points box. I presume one goes to the coil and the other one looks like it goes to the dash panel - Is it supposed to go on the key switch? I hooked it up that way and I could smell a burnt smell coming from the engine shortly thereafter. All the wires are connected as per the wiring diagram in the manual. I am also not getting any spark at the spark plug wire. Any ideas on what burnt?

Thanks Gary. I talked to my neighbor who sold this lawn tractor when it was new - he used to run an AC lawn and garden dealer, so he straightened me out. He suspects the coil burnt out. I got the engine out of the tractor and will be taking it apart this afternoon to check things out.

Myron You probably met Lloyd Kellogg in your travels. I sold him a really nice B-110 with a mower and blade back in early 80's. I was moving to Whitby and didn't have a very big yard. Gary |

We knew him quite well. He sold my grandfather the 1958 D14 that I now have, and we went to his farm many times over the years to buy parts that he sold out of the back of his house.
He died in the early 2000s if I am not mistaken and he formed our local antique heritage club. His grandsons are farming with AC even to this day and they are only in their 30s - Lloyd taught them well! |
