With a 844 in a semi, how was the air pump run? Was it a gear driven or a belted?

Looks like belt driven compressor, off same belt as WP. Scroll down in this old thread, for photos...

It was belt driven from the fan blade pulley and not from the water pump belt.
We were building engines for both Frightliner and Kenworth. There were minor differences between them and on some of the engines the air compressor was mounted on the LH side instead of the RH side.

I saw just yesterday one of the gen sets with the Mt. Everest 25000 engine. Makes you feel sorry for the 8550 or 4w305 to hold one of the engine blocks up.

I have one on a AC DES 300 genset. It has a bosch p pump mounted directly on the timing case up high. Its the only one I have seen that didnt have the injection pump low with a drive shaft

I was going from what I saw in Steve's picture, from the old post I linked to. I stand corrected!
