 Topic: Axle temp sending unit

The electrical wire blade connector broke off of the axle temp sending unit. The center terminal is still good. Can I run a ground to that wire that’s supposed to plug into that blade, and thus the gauge should work, correct?

Only if you want full sweep of that gauge all the time. Temp Senders are a variable resistance based against a temperature range not a hard ground.

This one is a two wire sending unit. It has the blade terminal(which is broke off), and the threaded stud(which is good).
Was hoping my idea would work, to get by until the next scheduled PM. Then I would change out the sender.

as a temporary bodge...
take an ohmeter and measure the sensor...probably +-150 ohms ? maybe 100, 250,? something in that region. buy a resistor at radioshack(do they still exist ??) and connect to the sensor wire and ground. this will give a fixed temperature and NOT indicate an overheated axle...

with that little better explanation yes your plan should work. The spade should be a redundant ground for the sensor since it is not directly grounded through the chassis

Missed the two terminal part, Yes adding a ground at times helps.
