My nephew's R62 keeps having problems with cab fan. Over the last 10 years he has had to replace the fan wheels 2 or three times. Replaced the whole assembly once. Fan wheel just comes apart on the end. My nephew says that this is a problem with theses fans. Is there any fix to this. Thank you in advance.

The most neglected filter on the combine is the cab air filter directly under the buddy seat that is accessed by dropping it out on top of the feeder house. I'm unaware of fan blade issues, but I'm very aware of that particular filter not being cleaned anywhere near often enough which may cause the fan blades some extra stress ??

That may have been a factor at the beginning. But once he started having problems with it, he has kept the filter clean and blows out the fan assembly before and after season. One year the mice had built a nest in it over the winter. Changed motor once and when he replaced it with a different assembly that had a different motor. Thought a bent shaft caused the problem. It did not. Thanks for the help. Always appreciate Dr. Allis advise. rrhead(SD)

We seem to have that problem allot. Take tractor or combine to dealer to get fixed and they say "never had that need fixing before". rrhead(SD)

So if the filter is clean, is there a restriction between that and the fan that you haven't seen?

I would think there has got to be some vibration causing this either by where the fan motor is mounted into the floor plate or the wheel being out of balance from buildup.  We just upgraded to S77's but ran R62 and 72 since about 98 and the 72 ac system was always crap compared to the 62.  We would blow out the evaporator and fan twice a year and it was always building up in there.  finally we completely removed everything from below the cab and found mice had chewed through the seals in several places and it was constantly sucking dirty air.  after fixing that the vibrations and dust problem went away and it cooled much better.  maybe this isnt the case here but it wouldnt hurt to blow out the fan blades a couple times a year to be sure?

Will have nephew take a look at that too. I know he has cleaned it the best he could. But will also check out the sealing on it. Thanks for all the replies. rrhead(SD)
