Radiator grill/shell like others have said, but It looks like something small to me. Thinking small water cooled pump or generator engine... 
And crank start, to boot...

I believe it is from a Kohler generator, years ago they were a blue and now they are more a turquoise color. Then again maybe not.

Close? Don't know before my time but they seem to be mostly stamped Kohler on them, this seems a little off but might not be stamped.
If only could see the front of this one, it looks even closer.

Where did you find it? A little more info might help. This story has nothing to do with your question. An old friend of mine used to run Massy 82 combines doing custom combining. He always told his customers. " If you find anything in the field next spring that you don't recognize, toss it under the gas barrel, I'll pick it up next fall when I come back." He also cussed AC and Gleaner combines. He said the owners could be running at 10:00 am, and he had to wait till noon for the corn/bean stalks to shed the dew so he could get them to run thru his Massy.

Does anybody know which engine Kohler used in their early light plants? It was just a little peanut of an engine, 4 cylinder, probably no more than a foot long, I always thought that it was their own engine but I was just guessing. There were many of them around for those who lived way out and most ran on butane.
The grille shell, like Diydave said, probably a stationary engine or maybe a welder, Wisconsin had their water cooled line up of engines that could power what ever was necessary, along with Hercules, Waukesha, Continental, Chrysler, LeRoi and many more, those are just the ones I can think of right off. When I was a kid in the "70's" I was at an auction in Bakersfield and there was a huge trailer mounted welder, I can't tell how many amps but it was driven by an industrial Dodge Hemi V8, I bet that would burn some rod. |

I found it in a scrap pile buried face up in the grass while I was mowing thistles. Its a rented land, so I don't know the story, but it looks like a GM truck rad cover. If anyone wants it its free. Here is the inside:
