8500-10,000 is what I come up with,I think 8500# is what I'd pay in scrap if that's what you're trying to find out.

Square frame gas is 8800#,  diesel is 9350#.  Older round frame is listed as the same weight. Information taken from the respective Allis brochures.

I didn't get to it in time...  I knew the guy that hauled it down there too and he said it needed a manifold on the engine.  He had it runnin' though.   And he knows I like Allis stuff! kinda ticks me off!

OAL about 20', width just over 6' for the grader to the outside of the wheels. A bit more depending on mouldboard length even when fully rotated. Possibly closer to 8' if it has a 12' mouldboard. Height with a cab over 7.5'.  
Too bad about the scrap machine as they may be the only source for some parts.

This may help. I once moved my 'D' ( gasser - 1967 ) with a 'tilt & go' truck. You will need a long bed as there is generally a winch, or other apparatus, taking up some bed length.[

You can move it with an 18' rollback.  Just put it on back end first, and set the blade down against the bed, lifting and dangling the front wheels...

Hi. Yes you can 'dangle' the front wheels/axle behind the truck tail, but that sure would not be very safe , or legal. Would it?
The literature for a round frame ( 1959 model ) also shows the same measurements. It is my understanding that these graders may have been shipped with the rear tires 'loaded'.   Ross.

We just moved one from east of Des Moines to Minneapolis on a 24 foot Kaufman tilt deck trailer. We loaded it forward on to the trailer. Balance was great. Pulled it with an F350- no problem at all. It was a 1956 D special with 12 foot blade and scarifier-no cab, Probably 9000#.

Just got a call from a freind of mine that has an Allis grader he wants to sell me, It looks like the D in the picture but this one is orange and has a round tube to the front wheels, What would this be? It has a 4 cylinder gas engine, He wants me to have it to put with my tractor collection, I don't even know what to offer. It is in great condition but has not ran for 4 to 5 years, has been inside though. This is a one owner grader.

The  serial number would answer  your questions. Year, engine model, etc.

If it means anything, I paid $ 5900, at auction, for my DD (diesel, 230 Buda), top of the market, a couple 6-8 years ago.  $100 bucks more, and somebody else would've owned it...

Some of the earlier ones were orange and up until 1964 they were built with the tube type frame. Mine is a 1959 and it is orange and some of that vintage were yellow as well. Most of the early Allis construction equipment was orange.

Yeah, I like the leaning front wheels on my DD, when an arshluch in a corvette tries to pass you, you lean the tires left at the top, and rip the trim off of his passenger door...

OK guys, checked out the D grader today, It is complete, has not ran in 2 or 3 years, tires look like new. small dent in the grill around the radiator. yellow in color. Serial number D-1305. What year and is it worth $2,000

thanks Dave. Got it running. Front is pretty wobbly. Pulled the starter and generator for service. 2nd &3rd are frozen. I’ll pull the cover when it warms up and see what’s up.

I only have the parts manual, if I'm looking at the right nut, it appears to be a 5/8" NC nut, possibly a castle nut with a retaining wire/cotter pin.  According to standard torque charts, 73 ft-lbs should be sufficient for grade 2.  If the service manual says more, I would defer to that value. if anyone has the shop manual handy, feel free to chime in!Wink
