6080 fusible link

   Hello.  Thanks in advance to all who contribute.  Quick background on myself, I owned a 6080 about 20 years ago and had to sell it due to family circumstances.  Really liked the tractor so now that things have returned to normal, I purchased another (thus, 2ndTime).  The existing fusible link (from starter to firewall bus/breakers) has been replaced at some point and was poorly done. The jacket is failing and the connectors are cheap.  Anyway, the schematic says it is "brown" but I can't find a chart for Allis fusible links.  From what I can tell, color coding varies from manufacturer to manufacturer.  Does anyone know what the rating is for the 6080 link?  Thanks again, Pete

	We have a 6060, what a great tractor the 6000 series are. When I get to the shop this evening, I'll take a look in the factory service manual and see if there's anything useful in the electrical section.

	So I took a look in the FSM and it's just labeled "fusible link". The circuit breakers are 30 amp on the other side of the link. Not much help, sorry.

	Thank you PAFarmer. After further research, here is what I've come up with. But first, a disclaimer. I am less than a shade tree mechanic so what I am going to say is my opinion. Anyone else should do their own research before changing/altering a fusible link because they are individually designed for each application (their length and gauge being the variable from application to application). The 6080 schematic lists the fusible link as "brown". With a little internet search, I found a company offering a "brown" fusible link. It is rated at 70 amps (coincidence? IDK). Another search suggested a rule of thumb for sizing fusible links as: alternator amperage rating plus ten percent. The manual for the 6080 lists 61 amps for the factory alternator. So without an available factory replacement part or the knowledge to do the actual calculations, I'm going to go with the 70 amp link. Thanks to all those who checked out my post.
