if the Preditor series of portable generators from HF have idle control?
I am still confident of this;

The one I have does not, think it is a 4500 watt, some of the larger ones might have it but I have not seen it on one. I sure would like to have it on mine, sure saves on fuel consumption and cuts down on the noise. But for the price difference vs a Honda I can make do without it.

I have a 7500 W unit.... No idle.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

hmm..not too sure HOW you could have 'idle' mode. Gennys need to spin at a fixed RPM to maintain the 60 HZ line frequency,otherwise a lot of what gets plugged in (motors and transformers) ain't going to work, or worse be damaged.
I know my friend's  big gas powered welder has 'idle' control.Simple circuit(yeah, I had to fix it) sensed when an arc was made (high current flow), that made engine run faster....Can't do that with a power genny though...
curious now...something else to goggle about...

My guess is that the inverters have the ECO mode but the open frame does not.

Any that have 'inverter' technology could have 'auto-idle' but the 'old school' style.... engine coupled to alternator won't..

I just went to HF website, clicked on the 3500 and down at the bottom below the specs is a customer video which shows it has the idle switch and he demonstrates it.  I bought a 300 watt Briggs and Stratton  unit several years ago, and am very happy with it.  The Briggs is not electric start like the Preditor or Champion.  I met a guy at Hutch camping one year that had a Champion that has not only the idle but remote electric start.

My Honda has it, but I use it for the house so it never gets a chance to go to idle.

A friend used his for trimming trees down his driveway for his RV.  Put it and his electric pole saw in the trailer and pull it down the driveway, stopping for the branches.  I'm sure it went to idle when he stopped the saw.  I'm not sure how much gas one would save if the idle was not for long.  It seems the surge getting it back up to speed would consume extra gas.  I also wonder what damage may be done to equipment and the gen when it surges back to operating power.
