In college sports, you have the Florida State Seminoles, where the Seminole tribe has specifically come out in support of the college using the name. On a smaller scale, we have the Central Michigan Chippewas, where the same thing has happened.

I think, but don't know for sure, that there has been specific support for the Chicago Blackhawks.

I could easily see a matter of pride for Chiefs, Braves, Indians. . . .

But Redskins? Personally DON'T think so. I'm sure you could dig and find a Native who would say it doesn't bother him, but as a majority of the community, I seriously doubt it. Niece is married to a Native man. Oh, should mention he is also an Iraq Veteran, wounded in action, newly graduated policeman who has built himself up from nothing. He says it's not a good name. Most of the etymology of the word is meant as derogatory / demeaning.

Dont know about the rest of you, but every time i go into Wal Mart and see Oyster CRACKERS on the shelf, i get PISSED !!
