8070 temp gauge

My temp gauge quit reading so we replaced the gauge with a salvage one   Then we put a new sending unit on it   If I take the wire off the sending unit it reads cold when I put it on it pegs it out on the hot side. This is before we crank it for the day. Sending unit come from Napa this is what it was doing before we did anything to it. What should I do next

Does it take an AGCO sender and not just a generic one like I got
