On line only auction about 150 miles from here shows 4 stack weights off of a 58-60 D17 NF gas. No bolts visible and the bottom one about half buried in the dirt in an old barn. All 4. Wondering what these sell for cleaned up but not painted? At least weights don't wear out....

A lot.  Those weights are sought after.  My D17 came with them when I bought it years ago.  My old AC dealer told me I had $1000 worth of weights there.

You mean the one in Milroy?

The tractor appears to be wide front D17.  The brackets for the weights are still on the tractor.  It would be best to see if the auction company could remove them and put them with the weights.  You might get a better deal if you bought the tractor cause whoever buys the tractor is probably gonna go hard after the weights.  It doesn't say that I could see that it is an online auction and there isn't a catalog.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess $500.00 for the weights, and brackets.  There will probably be lots of AC folks there so they may go for more cause someone wants them for there restored D17.

Not nearly as much as they used to as some   very good clones were cast at one time.

Then you are not talking about this auction in Milroy?

There are only four stack weights.

It does say online, but there isn't a bid catalog.

My bad, I didn't go to the auctioneers website.  Catalog is there

Great. Now EVERYBODY knows and can bid against me. And I lied. It's about 8 miles away from me not 150. And the guy that died was a distant cousin. I didn't know about the sale. I stumbled onto it by accident. How does someone in Michigan know about it and I don't 8 miles away? I don't get it!

Probably not the best idea to post something like this coming up for auction in a public forum, if you don't want to increase your competition. You probably just should have asked the question "how much are D17 front weights worth" and left it at that.

It shows you live in SE/IN.  Go to Auctionzip.com and put in the zip code for Evansville and Allis Chalmers in the key word and expand the area out from there.  I think I found it with the second search at 150 miles.  Don't worry about, now everybody knows now, they probably knew before you did.  I hope you get the auctioneer to put the brackets with the weights and you are the successful bidder.

up to you, but unless your a pureist, I wouldn't pay more than what you can get the new ones from Steiner for.
