Was deciding what to do first yesterday so got the 180 out, forks on the loader and moved my home made rock screen to the shop, had some scrap 1/8" off the grain bed I rebuilt sitting so extended the sides to hold bucket loads better and made a toe kicker at front for the spoil rocks to lean on, still need to come up with 3 or four short but bouncy springs for the low edge so will bump and shake more. Then went back to the barn.

Log splitter I made years ago neighbor borrowed got tired let his grandkids at and they overpressured trying to bust a Y, bent the crap out of the push plate where he then tried to cover patch the busted welds and make it OK to take back, I caught him welding it, made him stop, been sitting since on a pallet in back of barn. Got it cleared to get at, started hefting and VOILA!! A full Grown quite LARGE Skunk comes blasting(actually Waddling) out from under the pallet!! I figure I am so screwed but it just waddles outside tail down. Gonna have to find something as a deterrent for Critters down there.

Need to clean that whole building out and up, then re-organize the floor storage for my wagon, 180 and farm truck.

Bad part was had no place TO run, was between the tractor and the splitter when it darted out, no room to maneuver!! Appeared to be trying to hide or be inconspicuous as it meandered along the inner building wall and machine parts I have in there.

Local MFA has some critter rid stuff as I called them yesterday, going there today and see what they have. Was also told the use of soap flakes or moth balls works pretty good if not both scattered to the four winds in the barn. May try it all.

I've heard that here in Michigan they have found them, Skunks, with Rabies.

Rabies is transmitted by saliva, so any animal that has it, and decides to drink from a community water source, or sample the same roadkill, will wind up with Rabies.  The reason to vacinnate your kitties and dogs, is 'cause racoons, rabbits, possums and skunks will help themselves to the food and water dishes.

Nick was comin' up the road two nights ago, saw a dead skunk on the right side edge... he gave it a wide berth, and turns out it wasn't dead... it darted up across the road in front of him, and greeted the right front tire tread.  The car smelled awful... so we took a trip through the drive-through car wash.  Still has a little on it down underneath, but he drove it in the rainstorm this morning.

Coyotes got the carcass last night.  They're wily, and apparently, aren't bothered by the 'ambiance'...
