Yeah I stole that title from a favorite automotive writer, but I like it. Anyway, as I was pokin around some 7000 cabs at my favorite salvage yard I noticed the cab sitting next to it was off a green tractor. And looking closer to the two it appeared the warning flashers looked identical.I don't mess around with JD so it came as a surprise to me. I didn't have a tape measure with me but my crude substitute seemed to show they were the same. Am I correct? Has anyone else noticed this? Did everyone else already know this?

Pretty sure they are a common automotive light so them being the same would not be a surprise.

Kinda interesting but My uncle needed the air stack for a john deere 720 D, I found one at a tractor salvage yard...wsanted quite a lot for it. I paid ten bucks for the same exact one off an oliver...

Needed the warning lights for the roll bar on my Hindu Ford (Farmtrac) and parts guy suggested trying ones from a MF; about half the price and an exact match. Guess the extra cost was shipping them to India and then back again. A lot of the different brands get their lights from the same supplier.

I was interested in replacing my flasher lights on my 7010 cab because they are very dull and not very bright, but they are not a standard size from what I found when digging around in various LED lighting websites. I wanted to get LEDs and make them brighter. I considered make an aluminum c channel bracket that would mount in the old holes and then drill two holes for the the newer led lights since they were smaller. If I ever found any LEDS the right size, I could remove aluminum brackets without worrying about new holes to cover. I forget exact dimensions but seemed like they were 4 inch holes center to center and most led flashers are more like 3.5 inches center to center.

There are LED bulbs available for 1157 and 1156 bulbs.

Yea,,what Joe said,,,use a 1156 replacement LED, get the same color as the lens, that way the lens doesn't hafta filter out all the other colors and will be lots brighter....
1156 is a single function bulb
1157 is a dual function,,ie,,brake/turn + park light

The brightest led 1156/1157 I have found is this style, they are listed as COB.
These seem to work pretty good in the fender mounted lights. Some of those leds are just not that good. You will have to use an led flasher though but they are pretty cheap through eBay. For the cab mounted lights I just did a set that had the newer flasher switch that was bad and didn't want to pony up to AGCO prices so I put these leds in. They have their own internal flasher. You can set them up for all different styles of flashing or just steady on. I set them up for the 3 flash strobe style so when you turn on the hazards they use a strobe flash. They are REALLY bright. I bolted them on the base and they fit inside the housings with plenty of extra room.

COB means chips on board. Pretty much all the lights and bulbs are this type. There is also a resistor kit to use the existing flasher. There is a wide variation in quality and brightness in LED bulbs. from 25 to 550 lumens. The ones on ebay do not specify brightness.
