For all the other "new to tractors" tractor owners thought I'd pass this on in case you haven't done so yet:

Get to wrenching on all the nuts, bolts and, screws that you can access to see if any need a tightening. After getting the generator back on the tractor today I went through all the other fasteners on the tractor.

Except for some on the manifold, those holding the two halves together, and a few others almost all were able to be tightened at least abit. Some were really loose like those on top of the engine (got almost a full turn out off all of them)!

Scariest ones to find loose were those holding the front pivot on! Could have been catastrophic down the line!

Curious to see if some of my leaks go away after today. Oil pan bolts and those around the pto/ hydraulics all got snugged up.

I know this is totally basic knowledge for most on here but it's something that I'd thought about but put off. Never thought that the front pivot would be that way.

How often are you "old pro's" just going through the fasteners? After working the tractor hard, weekly, Monthly, every 6 mos, yearly?

Reading through some old posts: hope I didn't tighten the valve cover too tight! Don't think I did as I didn't take the hood off and was reaching up and in: didn't have a good angle for really cranking on them hopefully.

Note "new to tractors" tractor owners: don't get carried away with the nuts on the valve cover!

Any others to watch out for to not over tighten?

If a torque value is given for a particular fastener, THAT'S "how tight" to tighten it; NOT "good and tight," or "crank on 'em for all I'm worth," or anything else. And they shouldn't need re-torqueing if they've been done right. It's amazing how many people don't do it right and then wonder why when something goes wrong.
It's a good idea to regularly (whatever that means to you; for me, when I'm done using the PTO) check the PTO gearbox mounting bolts.

I don't know if I'd jump on a new to me tractor and just start yanking on wrenches? A good visual inspection and a light touch with a wrench should help to identify any loose bolts, then re-torque accordingly.

Most times when I'm trying to remove a bolt from an old tractor it was torqued by King Kong.
