Looking at the Cowtown shootout tractor pull rules in KC, and they really state - no map enhanced grooves in certain classes , whats the map enhanced grooves ? Heard of this , but never had to worry about it back when we were hot and heavy in it

The you tube video shows a custom made cover that is adjustable in the width of the map groove. The majority of turbos out there on pulling tractors don't have any adjustment to them. Many will machine it to various widths. Many pulling classes limit what can be done to the map groove, and some even don't allow a slotted type of charger, so smooth bore only. Map width enhancement groove or slot. Also called a bleed slot. When turbo gets close to stall, the excess boost pressure is allowed to bleed out the slot and back around to the intake side of the compressor wheel. Many people think it allows more air to enter. Now in the case of a too small a turbo on an engine, it might take additional air in there. I'm no turbo expert, just know enough to sell and size them most of the time. lol!
