My Ram 2500 (2008) has the chronic ability to get a black film on the positive terminal that requires monthly cleaning or it dies.
I've tried different remedies but nothing seems to work: Coke Terminal acid neutralizer Electric Paste Dielectric grease |

I coat my battery terminals with a product named WHIP. Bought it years ago at the national farm machinery show and have had good luck with it.

Replace battery. It is leaking around the post. You can clean it up good and try some RTV between the post and the battery case and it might help.

I scoffed at those green and red felt washers from Napa for years. Terminals on the minivan with all that electronic crap corroded like I have never seen, I tried the washers on a whim. Now I have them on all my batteries.
I've also taken an old timers suggestion and super glued a penny near each post. Both worked well. |

like Marv, I also use them little oily washers on most of my batteries, I have also sprayed WD40 on the terminals, but Charlie, your battery is fu-barred or soon will be. also there used to be a spray plastic sold in auto parts stores, in an aerosol can, after putting the cables on i'd spray it with that stuff and it would seal the whole thing until I took a cable off, that worked well, I also used that stuff on distributor caps and wires that were prone to sucking up moisture. I haven't seen it on the shelves for several years now, and the no know it alls at the counters don't know anything about it either.

Di-electric grease - like used on AL wires will also help prevent the corrosion .
