Just took the Huey flight on Aug. 11 and it was awesome!
What a great gathering of veterans and patriots. It was great to hear the veterans stories, see old friends reunited & the healing and support given to all. I would strongly suggest everyone to attend the annual gathering in Peru IN. They have good food, air and ground reenactments, flights, displays & most importantly is veterans that share there history. For more information about the organization go to americanhuey369.com. Join the cause to help preserve the history of the Huey and all Vietnam veterans as well as educate others. CLick the link below to see my flight video. Huey 369 Flight Thank You Dennis |

What did they have to do to keep Ted out of the pilot's seat ? Very nice to be able to do that again.

I believe Ted ended up piloting flights later in the day and maybe even the reenactments on Sunday. |

Thanks for sharing a great video. Brings back a lot of memories, would love to fly on one again. Bet the historical records on 369 could tell quite a story.

Cool, I was actually thinking about this the other day and wondering if you made the flight. It's only about 45 minutes from me. I need to make it down there to see the museum.

Great video. They must have at least two of those things flyable. The crank up looked like A or B and the flight was in the D/H style as I foggily recall.
Would love to be on the ground and hear those blades again. |

Dave, I think the crank up was a Charlie model, and the flight was a Hotel model since it had the roof mount pitot tube and going by the blue/green lens in the map light it was modified for NVG's. IIRC the Delta models had the pitot tube mounted on the nose.

The crank up is a B and the 369 which I had the flight in is an H. The B has quite a history. Most Huey’s served about 6 months in Vietnam but the B in the video served about 7 years. It had the tail section shot off by a mortar and they found 78 bullet holes when it was restored. Edited by DennisA (IL) - 14 Aug 2018 at 8:38pm |

I was trying to get that sound, but unfortunately the noise reduction was turned on on the camcorder. I’ll need to keep that in mind for future videos. |

I got to fly for about 20 minutes Saturday, and was supposed to fly the re-enactment on Sunday, but we ran into a scheduling conflict and I got bumped. I was scheduled on a flight later in the day Sunday, but I needed to do flight briefings. The FAA requires that everyone who flies with us must be given a briefing prior to their flight, and there was no one available when my flight time came around. and if I had just walked away when it was time for me to fly it would have messed up the flow of the flights. I hope to have another opportunity in September at the big veterans reunion in Greentown, IN.

Flew in Huey many times, not as crew, but passenger. I was 11B20 M.O.S. infantry and we would be transported out into the field, platoon size in 6 or 7 Huey;s. Four of us on each side sitting on the aluminum floor with feet hanging out on the aircraft skids. The last 3 Mo. in Nam I was lucky and got assigned to the 132 nd A.S.H.C. with 13 CH 47 Chit Hooks. I had a secondary M.O.S.being a machinist. Spent most of my time removing broken bolts on aircraft structures (motor mounts). Got to fly some as crew (door gunner) on stand by flight stats .

My Huey experience is from spring of 78 when the National Guard air lifted us out of our home on Big Island south of Fremont Ne. when the Platte river was flooding. @ 16 years old it was a pretty cool thing.

SD had a Vietnam Veterans get together a few years back in Pierre. A local veteran went on the Huey ride with his wife. He told me the strangest thing about riding in one after 40 years, was that it felt weird not holding a rifle in-flight.

The huge veterans reunion in Greenville IN will be the next opportunity for a flight with American Huey 369. The Howard County Vietnam Veterans organization is the host of a huge veterans reunion each September. Any Vietnam veteran should attend at least once, although all veterans are welcome.

I enjoyed watching the video. I was w/ the 507th at Fort Sam, 1975&76. I read years latter they moved to Fort Hood. We had both charlie and hotel models. When we took the armored front seats out, it was a three man job. Those seats were heavy. I would really enjoy a flight w/ you Ted. Tim
