Hi
I have an old Allis Chalmers tl14, it has been running well, but I need a new head gasket for it. The old one had let in coolant water onto the pistons. I have searched for a new one on the net, but I just can't find one that seems to fit. I've attached a photo of the engine. The engine number is, av 322 2em 24 a4852 1486 I don't know if it's a buda or an Allis engine, but if I search for tl14 head gaskets, I can't match them to the old one I have. The part number on the old head gasket is a70788. ![]() I hope you are able to help me finding somewhere I am able to get it ![]() Edited by Dmmm - 07 Aug 2018 at 3:00pm |

Tl14 was originally a 6 cylinder engine machine, and the lanova engine used flat pistons and an injector in the side of the head. looks like your 4 cylinder is direct injection, you have some kind of transplant. google search of gasket # had some links to perkins.

From Swinford's book, if its the original 4 banger, its a 6000 engine, of 344ci, no turbo.

Yes it seems you're correct. I've traced the engine to be a british AEC diesel. The trouble of getting a head gasket for it just became a bit tougher i suspect

good luck. i double checked, a 6000/344 has 24 head studs listed in the parts book, your picture has 20 including the one top left that is removed.

By this it isn't an AEC as it looks like they didn't make 4 cylinder ones But they became part of Leyland, who did make 4 cylinder ones So maybe try the 4/98 or earlier series. I think it was used in Nuffield tractors. Oldtanker at Red Power was looking for a replacement one of those engines , so some made it to US. Picture of a marine one scroll down here Looks like some parts supply in US if it is one - use the googler

They made a TL 14 and a TL12 at Essendine they both had an AEC 301 motor by memory in my TL 12 I replaced the liners and head gasket back in the early eighties from NZ agents Cable Price, at the time they were readily available parts, British Allis loaders prior to 545 and up had AEC diesels they were direct injection good starting engines

Not sure if these folks can help, but were able to get gaskets for a AC 5015 tractor and ship it to me. Does not mean they can get what you need, but worth a shot.
