Nice Pic! My dad had an F-20 when I was a young ladd. Someone had installed foot brakes and an external road gear on it. That thing would run "faaaaast!". Lucky for me Dad never caught me doing that. Anyway, it was a great tractor........a bit of a brute to operate, but a real workhorse.

Why is there never time to do it right the first time, but always time to go back and fix it?

My dad had an F-20, so every time I see one I look it over. I don't think I've ever seen 2 alike. I even saw one that was painted the early blue gray and had split rims on it.

John, Just remember you are restoring a classic. The F-20 was an outstanding machine that was perfect for our 60 All Crop's. Ran soo slow that we had virtually no problem doing a good job.
In fact, the F-20 is one of the Franklin Mint Models I have. I respected that tractor that much. Just goes to show what used to be.
Let us see pictures as it progresses.
Good Luck!

Interesting you say "Wife's" project. I was just informed a couple days ago that my better half would be more willing to go on tractor rides if she had a red tractor like her daddy's to drive. That is one good aspect of the red ones. They have one of the fastest road gears, and they made a zillion of them so they're cheap and easy to get parts for. I've already found her an M for $800 that runs good.

IT WAS A FENCE LINE TRACTOR WE RECEIVED AS A CHALENGE FROM THE "COFFEE SHOP GUYS".

I still can't get Deb to give up on her saying, "Real Tractors are Red". Maybe if we just go to a bunch more shows, she will start to see the light..... What is it with women and red tractors? |

Glenn, when you figure out women and red tractors let me know. I'm just grateful to have found a way to get Elizabeth on any sort of tractor.
Monitordoc, I work in Newton. It used to be known as the Washing Machine Capitol of the World, home of Maytag. When Whirlpool bought Maytag, about all they kept was the name. At least some of the buildings were sold and some other businesses moved in.

I don't havew an F 20 but have a real soft spot for them. Iffin I was to find one standing along the road with a sign that said, I work for food, I am sure I could find a place in the barn for it. :-)

Won't work Bigfish. Her FAVORITE color is green. It's not that she doesn't like my C, just don't like orange. I think it's the same reason her favorite ball team is Florida, which happens to be my least favorite, being I grew up in Athens, GA. LOL!

Keep us posted on your progress. Several years ago, my son-in-law asked if i could store an F-20 for him. His great grandfather bought it new in 1937. So it sits out back, waiting for me to add space to get it inside. A neat heirloom tractor. Bob@allisdowneast
