Had a small unit fall out years ago, stuck it back in the window and it worked. They are probably using butane for a refrigerant. That is one of the things that was used as a substitute for R12 in older automotive systems when the gubbmint did away with R12.

Government /EPA logic. It's because they want no cfc refrigerant or blends by 2020. So all other current affordable options are flammable. So the 5 pounds of refrigerant that are used to cool your house won't damage the ozone layer if they leak out. But what happens when houses start burning down do to leaks. How's that for the environment and ozone layer

Don't the new units have an escape pod so if it gets on fire, it blows its self away from the window, into the yard?

Is this just another ploy to make our cars and trucks obsolete because of the old R34 just like the R12? Force us to buy newer? |
