I gotta go get "Little Johnny" scoped. I saw a picture of the procedure. Have any of you had this procedure done? I'm a little concerned/worried!

same as if I was a women,I'd want a female doc with childen, deliver my child... I think the word is empathy ? one of them ..been in MY shoes.. things. |

John, if you are referring to a colonoscopy hope you can find a doctor that knows what they are doing. I have had 3, first wasn't too bad, second one I thought the idiot was trying to kill me, third one the put me under and I had a great nap and no discomfort. Got another one coming up if a few months. They pump plenty of air in you which you will be letting out for the next few hours. Have fun..............

"Little Johnny" I have to ponder for a second to understand what you are referring too. Certain things have many names and if It is what I am thinking I have never heard of it done. If it is your Dink then just have them knock you out and move on. Like Hubert said with a colonoscopy....Get knocked out and it's over. Best power nap you ever had. Best part of that is the nurses are always nice with there mask on and smile at you with there eyes. If I was 30 years younger I would have terrible sloppy dreams. My mom was an ER and surgical nurse for 40 years. You think guys are bad talking about the opposite gender physical attributes...from what she told me nurses are waaaay worse and very graphic. |

I assume you are referring to a cystoscopy and if so it is not that invasive. I have had it done three times, the last one about 3 weeks ago. Less invasive than a colonoscopy where they often give you something to relax you or put you out. Just lay back and relax while the nurse is making the immediate area nice and clean.

They put me out when I turned 50 and checked top end and the bottom end. Only thing I was concerned about was that the doc didn't use the same tool. Emptied my guts first felt good to be cleaned out for a few days.

Not sure what you are having done...if it's a colonoscopy....I can tell you that the night before is the worst part....you have to take this God awful stuff that makes you think you are going to explode...over and over...until you think that you are going to turn inside out...for the colonoscopies ( I have had 3 of them)..I was knocked out, and was groggy as can be when I came to...completely relaxed, with no idea what happened for the previous half hour ....Wifey had to drive me home
All kidding aside it can be the most important thing you do in your life |

It's the little guy. Getting urology bladder scope. Picture made it look like it could be very uncomfortable.
I've had 4 colonoscopys. I hate needles so whenever I go in that is the worst part. The night before ain't no picnic, but they can't seem to find anyone that can start an IV. Anyways that's next week. Going for a kidney scan tomorrow. That is gonna take an IV as well. I hate that and the iodine dye stuff they use. I hope they at least use the MRI machine. Then they give me headphones while they do their thing. |

Thanks for the offer Chuck but I didn't see this until 1:30 AM, and I didn't think you would probably be up! I just googled TURP. No that's not it. Just going in to look right now. I hope that isn't what the end result will be. Edited by john(MI) - 27 Mar 2018 at 12:52am |

I had to have my bladder inspected one time , John. It ain't the end of the world. In fact, it really isn't painful. Not the most comfortable thing to have done, but you'll live through it. Darrel

If they're just going to look, it's no big deal. It's when they decide to 'ream' it out a little or the TURP, then it's not so good..... I talked to a lot of guys that had the reamer job and they wouldn't do it again because a lot of time it didn't do anything to help. Just a bigger bill and felt like they had their guts taken out.
Hope your problem is a mild one and done in a day! |

I have had a colonoscopy and as stated not bad when they knock you out. Day before was the worst as the liquid I had to drink to clean me out was called Go Lightly which I did not! As for my short arm all I have had is a catheter when I had my hip replaced. I knew nothing of it at first because they placed it when I was out but I knew it when the Nurse took it out. I had to whistle while she worked! I do not want to place fear in anyone for having a procedure done. That is between you and your Doctor. My thought on my own circumstances is my Johnson has not been the same. But my hip is fine with no problems. So a trade off!

In the spirit of "making light of a serious situation", if you all want a good laugh, then look up Jeff Foxworthy's comic clip on you tube regarding a colonoscopy. I guarantee you a good laugh. Darrel

John, I had that "pecker scope" (bladder scan) thing done about a year ago and it was a little uncomfortable at first as the doc inserted the camera, but after that it wasn't bad. And; you gets to watch it all on TV as the doc explains what he sees!!! Good lookin' nurse pre-cleanin' your parts ain't bad either!

Four years ago last Nov. I had my gizzard removed, followed with radiation and a hormone shot every 6 month for 3 years.
Last April I complained that my stream didn't seem right when draining my bladder. So Dr. said he would run a scope up and check it. He couldn't get the scope in, so the next week I got reamed. Worst part is that 4 months before I had stopped leaking/dripping from the gizzard removal. And now I still drip from being reamed, almost a year ago.

It all depends which one they use. The first one I had seemed awful big the second one was near as bad it wasn't to bad. Mine was all because of Lipitor that I had been taking and it can cause bladder cancer. After they checked twice and didn't find cancer they just do a ex ray of my bladder once a year.
