Hd11 brakes

   I was running my new to me hd11e today and the foot brakes seem really grabby especially in reverse. It will make a clunky sound if you hit them too fast. Is this normal? Also can I still fine the liner for the clutch brake band?

	My 7G does that at times, seems the rear stop mechanism for the shoes has worn considerably on mine and allows too much shoe movement where the linkages and mechanism has to 'Take Up' before gets a set then grabs. I am trying to finish wrecking out my donor to see if those parts are any better condition.

	on a dry brake machine the brakes tend to be better in one direction because of how the band is on the drum, the pull wraps it tighter one way and looser the other if there is some slop. on the clutch brake, it is a pad riveted to a small disk that pushes against a stop at the back of the clutch housing. similar to a clutch disk but only contact on one side.

	I am not sure what is available for the clutch brake, woven or rolled lining should ok there But should you decide to do your turning brakes, a word to the wise, DO NOT USE WOVEN LINING on the brake bands, it is very aggressive and will grab at the slightest touch, if yours is a dozer, it is not as bad as an ag tractor, where I will just about guarantee picking up a hitch. CHECK THE RIVETS WITH A MAGNET, they look brass but with Chinese imports most are just brass plated steel rivets, they will destroy your drums. Real tubular brass rivets are available from McMasters Carr, but check them as well, they did send me the steel ones once by mistake, you can't tell by looking. Tad

	I may take my bands out and look them over. The brakes almost work too good.
